to have your lips
the scent trips my senses
I know only you,
the feel of your hands
running over my body
a summer rain-
warm and gentle
your breathing-
soft, intense
whispers of want
hot against
my hungry skin.

In these rumpled sheets we loved
Every wrinkle a reminder of the night we shared.
I am jealous as I smooth and tuck them
Each twist straightened is a memory forgotten to the sheets,
that will keep me awake each night that you’re away

His dad said,
“You can call me dad . . .
if you want.”
before walking out the door
after our goodbye hug.
Stunned I stared after
overwhelmed
it took one full minute
for utter panic to set in
and
one full day for me to wake up
and realize this isn’t a dream
these past two years.
We are real
and not just in our own little world [...]
